Spring Update from Luke

Hey friends! It's been a while since I last posted any updates here, and I'm pleased to say it's due in part to how busy things have been for me. The last year and a half has been a bit hectic but mostly just incredibly inspiring, and I'm so excited about all of the new music I have to share with you. Where to begin...

I released my first solo EP in August, 2011, and have been working on material for my new full-length studio recording, which I'm hoping to release early next year. Traveling and performing in Lyle Lovett's bands is, to quote Lyle, "...like going to rock and roll fantasy camp." It's so inspiring getting to play every night with each and every one of those guys, and I'm so grateful that I get to be a part of that group.

This past summer, Lyle asked me to sing my song "Remember Well" (from EP) in very nearly every single show. Consequently I was able to "disperse" quite a few around the country. I'm very fortunate to work for someone so generous.

I'm also honored to be a part of a new bluegrass band this year. Noam Pikelny asked me, along with Bryan Sutton, Barry Bales, and Ronnie McCoury, to travel and perform with him at festivals and performing arts centers. For now we're just calling it "Evening of Bluegrass featuring _____." Please keep an eye on this page and elsewhere for tour dates and news. We're playing some great festivals this spring and summer and will still be at it this fall. I sure hope you can join us.

Back in January I performed on the Cayamo "Journey Through Song" cruise. What a blast! Andy Levine and the Sixth Man crew put on a truly fantastic festival on the water. During that cruise Lyle asked me to perform one of my original songs in a writers' round that included Maple Byrn, Shawn Colvin, Justin Townes Earle, Lilly Hiatt, Lyle, Keb Mo, Keith Sewell, Sean Watkins, and Sara Watkins. I was a bit nervous but decided to debut a song that I had the honor of getting to write with Guy Clark and Jon Randall Stewart. What an amazing experience. This is a song I'm planning on recording soon. This clip is just a rough one from youtube but check it out!

Please send comments, thoughts, question to me on Facebook, where I try to keep in touch on a regular basis.

Be well out there and I look forward to seeing you down the road!
