Songwriter Luke Bulla Honors the Legendary Guy Clark by Being Placed on the Ballot for a Grammy Nomination

NASHVILLE, TN, October 31, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — Nashvillian Fiddler, Vocalist and Songwriter Luke Bulla’s new LP, Who Loves You Better, was released in May by Pure Music Nashville to critical acclaim and widespread radio spins, social media engagement and live shows across the USA. The lead song, ‘Temperance Reel,’ co-written by Bulla and Grammy winners Guy Clark and Jon Randall Stewart, has been placed on the Ballot for a Grammy Nomination for Best American Roots Performance. Produced by yet another Grammy winner, Bryan Sutton, the LP was recorded at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Studios in Nashville and features an impressive list of performers including: Sutton, Sarah Jarosz, Sam Bush, The Whites, Noam Pikelny, Maura O’Connell, Jerry Douglas and Lee Ann Womack. The LP also features songs composed by Grammy winners Lyle Lovett (the title track, ‘Who Loves You Better’), Buddy Miller, Cole Porter, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Rodney Crowell and others including Jamie Hartford and Luke’s longtime bandmate, drummer Russ Kunkel. Speaking of the experience, Bulla said: “Writing with masters like Guy and Jon Randall brings in so many flavors and dimensions to the music and storytelling. One could not ask for better mentors to learn and apply the art of songwriting and I’m so glad I was able to write with Guy before his untimely passing earlier this year. When we learned about being placed on the Ballot for a Grammy Nomination, we felt ‘Temperance Reel’ was a fitting tribute to the awesome legacy Guy leaves behind as one of American music’s best loved performers, writers and co-writers.” Pure Music Nashville partner John Heithaus added: “We’re hopeful the...

A Night for Tony Rice was a success!

The show kicked off with the one and only, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder with Ry Cooder followed by, Forrest O’Connor’s Duo, Mark Newton & Steve Thomas, my Trio, Rambling Rook, an All-Star Jam with Tim O’Brien, Bryan Sutton, Stuart Duncan & Sam Grisman.  And of course, no bluegrass evening is ever complete without absolutely everyone back on stage for a final cluster pluck! Luke’s set consisted of 3 original songs, The Valley, Remember Well, and Temperance Reel which he co-wrote with Jon Randall Stewart and Guy Clark.  And Guy just so happened to be in attendance that evening.  Luke also threw in a song off of Tony Rice’s Album, Tony Rice Plays and Sings Bluegrass, called, “Thunderclouds of Love.”  Special Guests on that song included Jesse Baker and the one and only Tim O’Brien.  The Luke Bulla Trio ended their set with, Temperance Reel.  And their set ended with a standing ovation!  It was a successful night for Tony Rice and a successful showing for Luke’s first trio gig in Nashville, TN! Luke on the 2014 Cayamo Cruise

Happy 2014! I hope you all are well. I’m so pleased to announce that I’ve been added to the 2014 Cayamo Cruise! This cruise has been one of those really special musical experiences that, I’m grateful to say, I’ve gotten to participate in over the last 5 years. In past years I’ve been on Cayamo performing with WPA and Lyle Lovett and this year I’ll be there performing more of my own music with lots of friends sitting in. I hope to see you all there or on the road this year somewhere! My best to you all!  ...

Spring 2013 Update from Luke

Hey friends! It’s been a while since I last posted any updates here, and I’m pleased to say it’s due in part to how busy things have been for me. The last year and a half has been a bit hectic but mostly just incredibly inspiring, and I’m so excited about all of the new music I have to share with you. Where to begin… I released my first solo EP in August, 2011, and have been working on material for my new full-length studio recording, which I’m hoping to release early next year. Traveling and performing in Lyle Lovett’s bands is, to quote Lyle, “…like going to rock and roll fantasy camp.” It’s so inspiring getting to play every night with each and every one of those guys, and I’m so grateful that I get to be a part of that group. This past summer, Lyle asked me to sing my song “Remember Well” (from EP) in very nearly every single show. Consequently I was able to “disperse” quite a few around the country. I’m very fortunate to work for someone so generous. I’m also honored to be a part of a new bluegrass band this year. Noam Pikelny asked me, along with Bryan Sutton, Barry Bales, and Ronnie McCoury, to travel and perform with him at festivals and performing arts centers. For now we’re just calling it “Evening of Bluegrass featuring _____.” Please keep an eye on this page and elsewhere for tour dates and news. We’re playing some great festivals this spring and summer and will still be at it this fall. I sure hope you...
